It's time for Perth's "offshore" comedy and music festival weekend when Rottnest Island is occupied by all things entertaining. Once again, this year's Rottofest features a huge lineup of comedians, music and short films.
For the first time an international act is the comedy headliner. Anthony Jeselnik from the USA, "the funniest man in the world" performs on Saturday night. Australian comedians are also well represented with the Big Hoo-Ha, Chris "the Bloke" Franklin, Dayne Rathbone (winner of the 2011 Raw Comedy Contest), among others.
Music is a major part of the festival and there are more than 15 acts including Millions, Set Sail, the Medics, Sonpsilo Circus (winner of the 2012 WAMI Most Promising New Talent award) and other local and interstate bands and DJs. From dub to electro-disco there's something for everyone.
Film Hosted by Tim Ferguson, Funniest Shorts is a showcase of short comedy films made for this national competition. See the best work of emerging filmmakers from all over Australia and vote for the People's Choice Award.
A range of ticket options is available. Weekend passes include accommodation, ferry passes and admission to all shows on both days.
