Fans of comedy, film and music are in for something really special this spring. Since being founded in 2009, Rottofest has been home to some of the most fun and entertaining weekends in the state, and this year looks like it will be no exception.
A bird's eye view of Rottnest Island
Rottofest is held in the first weekend of spring (3-4 September) on the awesome Rottnest Isand, located just 18km off the coast near Fremantle. You'll be able to enjoy some of the best comedy, film and music acts in Australia, and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A really cool part of the festival is that you can bike between gigs, giving you plenty of time to explore the island and soak up the atmosphere. And if the biking gets too much, just kick back in front of the big screen or have a cold one with your friends over a nice meal.
Kicking off on Saturday 3 September is a day of music featuring The Brow Horn Orchestra, Sam Perry, Jump Climb DJ's and more at Hotel Rottnest. In the evening is the major event, a comedian competition with the 7pm Project's Dave Thornton as MC.
All throughout Saturday and Sunday the Island will be alive with daily street performers in the main settlement, stand up comedy shows at the Governors Bar, and comedy skit and short films held at the magnificent Rottnest Island Picture Hall.
A Sunday session will wrap up the festival starring Diger Rokwell, Vishnu, Mathas, Empty Cup, YLEM and more. A perfect end to a weekend of fun.
