The trip across was a little adventurous, however crew on Rottnest Ferries were quick to offer everyone a paper bag. Luckily for me, I do not suffer from motion sickness, however there were some in our group who did.
After our amazing welcome, we headed towards the town centre. We had to make a decision on the best mode of transport for the day.
Bike or Bus - Photo Compliments of SocialHummingBird
With 5 in our group, the decision was to purchase a day bus pass. Later in the day we saw a bunch of bicycles abandoned along the road side. According to the bus driver, hiring a bike requires a $50.00 deposit and the ride back to town is another $20.00. With fairly strong winds on the day, I knew that most of the members in my group would not have made it around the island. I calculated that we saved over $250.00 by using the bus.
Rottnest Carnivale at Night with WA Birds of Prey - Photo Compliments of SocialHummingBird
Rottnest Carnivale is a combination of Day and Night Events. The day events are filled with fun things for the whole family to do, while the evening is filled with spooky adventures, trick or treats, and movie in the park. The hardest decision you will end up making is choosing the best time to return home. Of course, you can opt for an early return ferry but it may require you to wait in line for vacancies.
A Range of Cafes and Food Outlets to Choose from - Photo Compliments of SocialHummingBird
Apart from Dome Cafe, you will find a range of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal. Prices are about 30% more than what you would pay in Perth. An example of pricing is a medium pizza that cost us $25.00 last year.
