Bargain Hunters, Bookworms and Fellow Redlanders:

Have you been hoarding those gold coins? It's that time of the year again when you can empty those pockets without any feelings of guilt. Yes, the Capalaba Rotary Club Bookfest is happening again at the Scout Hall on the corner of Bainbridge and Gordon Streets, Ormiston.

Lots of preloved books, including children's titles, travel, military, cooking, hobbies, and Australiana will be on offer at bargain prices. Many items are retired library books so are in good nick. Other items may have been purchased from the Bookfest held earlier in the year and have been donated back by the community, which keeps the prices down.

In the main building, the tables in the middle will be covered by novels, both hardback and paperback. Stocks will be replenished regularly and, more importantly, many books by the more popular authors will be grouped together. That makes it easier if you are a Patricia Shaw or Stephen King fan.

Personally, I enjoy scrounging the less organised tables where you really can come across some gems. Takes a little more time and effort though the rewards can be intoxicating. Sorry, exciting. Intoxicating makes me sound a right nerd, doesn't it?

The outer buildings also house books and magazines, though the groupings may be more eclectic: encyclopaedia sets from the 70's, astronomy, mathematics, and hypnotherapy for example.

The monies raised from this fundraiser will be supporting Literacy and Youth projects throughout the Redlands. A few additional gold coins for the raffle as you depart the premises may also be appreciated, though it must be my time for a win.

The Bookfest is open to the public across the following hours:
Friday, 27th October, 2017 1pm to 5pm
Saturday, 28th October, 2017 8am to 4pm
Sunday, 29th October, 2017 8am to 2pm

Some tips for successful book fossicking:
& #8226 ; Take a shoulder bag for stowing books whilst you work your way around the tables
& #8226 ; Finished books can be donated back by depositing in the slot in the shed at the back of the property.

Entry is Free.

My excitement level is through the roof. No apologies - I am a nerd.
