Listen to the compelling, real life and tragic story of Rosie Batty as she is in conversation at the Brisbane Powerhouse on 23 April 2024 speaking with a message of hope.
The name Rosie Batty became known to Australians in 2014 when, in an unspeakable act of violence Batty's ex-husband Greg Anderson bludgeoned and stabbed their son Luke to death while the 11-year-old attended cricket practice.
This unimaginable moment of domestic violence changed Rosie and her family's lives forever and also shone a new light on domestic violence in Australia. Since the tragedy, Rosie Batty has been an active violence prevention campaigner and advocate on issues surrounding domestic violence.
The following year, Rosie Batty was awarded
Australian of the Year and received an Officer of the Order of Australia Award in 2019. Now, Rosie Batty will be in conversation with Sue Smethurst, a senior journalist with the
Australian Women's Weekly.

Her latest book is called
Hope and poses the question "After tragedy, how do we find hope?" She shares her struggles with anxiety, PTSD, self-doubt and self-loathing and how she finally confronted her grief alongside her path as a crusader for domestic and family violence. Hope follows Rosie Battys' previous book
A Mother's Story.
