Alice in Wonderland Journey in Art
Local artist Rose Van Oyen's work is on display in the Hub Gallery at the Caboolture Hub, Hasking Street, Caboolture until January 7th, 2017.
The works, acrylic paintings, ceramics and mixed media collage, were inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and the sequel Through the Looking-Glass.
Rose says that the works "explore Alice's emotions and encounters on her adventure through Wonderland".
In the artworks, Rose combines unique textures and vibrant colours in her acrylic paintings, and the mixed media collage "encompasses the eclectic use of fabric scraps, velvet flowers, dyed lace, trims, buttons, beads, knitting yarns, braids, ribbons and trims to create Alice's world."
Since 2000 Rose has won an impressive array of prizes in competitions around Queensland. Currently, she is completing a degree Bachelor of Arts degree (Fine Arts and Visual Culture) at Curtin University.
The Exhibition is in a small gallery opposite the Gallery Shop, near the entrance to the Caboolture Library - and it is free to enter and explore.
Don't forget - the exhibition closes on January 7th, so make a note to visit as soon as possible. There's plenty of free parking too.
