Roses are blooming,Veggies are too,The gardens are alive with colour,And so are you.
What's your favourite rose? Adelaide, this is your opportunity to have your voice heard. Head to the
Adelaide Botanic Garden's rose trial garden on
April 9th & 10th 2016 for the People's Choice vote. Glorious roses are now in full blooming season. Discover beautiful new roses at
Adelaide Botanic Garden's rose trial garden. There will be many new varieties to discover.
This garden grows only new varieties of roses that aren't currently available for sale in Australia, and they come from as far afield as France, Germany and the USA. The rose trial garden is a place used to test if the roses are suitable for growing in the Australian climate and soil. If the roses are grown successfully, they may be put forward for commercial sale.
The public is asked to vote on their favourite new rose. People can view the rose trial garden on the
9th and 10th of April between 10am and 4pm. This is your opportunity to cast your vote for the all-important people's choice.
April is the perfect time to see roses in full bloom and have a wander in the gardens. Don't forget to bring your camera!
Take advantage of the mild autumn weather and bring a picnic and explore the grounds before or after casting your People's Choice vote. The
Adelaide Botanic Gardens also come alive that weekend with the
inaugural Heirloom Festival. The Heirloom Festival celebrates all things fresh, natural and homegrown and is presented by The Diggers Club and the Botanic Gardens of South Australia. The Heirloom Weekend includes free workshops, live music, masterclasses, a pumpkin growing competition and children's activities. Heirloom means traditional varieties of plants or breeds of animals that aren't associated with large-scale commercial agriculture.
