Unique experiences for rose and garden lovers
Facebook Tibetan Buddhist Society

This promises to be a lovely outing. It is a place to unwind, relax and yes, smell the roses.

There are ten acres of gardens offering modern roses, cottage plantings and exotic trees at the Tibetan Buddhist Society.

As Buddhist philosophy is to avoid harming all living beings this garden is all natural and pesticide free. Instead, companion planting is used

As this is the period when roses are at their peak their annual Rose Garden Open Day will happen on the weekend of 28-29 November from 10 am – 4 pm.

The 10 acre gardens are maintained using environmentally sustainable methods and have been showcased on the ABC's Gardening Australia.

You will find magnificent rose bushes in hundreds of varieties that have been organically cultivated using recycled water and companion planting.

There are lakes, sweeping lawns, courtyards and 2000 trees on the property including golden robinias, Californian redwoods, olive trees, weeping elms, willows and mulberries, cedars, Japanese maples, flowering cherries and blue spruce.

Thousands of birds enjoy the gardens and have been fed each morning for the last 20 years.

There will be free garden tours that include tips on organic gardening, rose pruning, companion planting and water wise gardening.

There will also be regular tours of the magnificent traditional Tibetan temple, one of very few of its kind in the Western world.
