Will you accept Rose's "rose"?
For a number of years now, reality TV has dominated the hearts and minds of the Australian populace. So many shows fight for dominance in the public theatre that one can get lost in the cacophony of glamour and drama. There is, however, one show which seems to stand above all others. That show is The Bachelor and its female equivalent, The Bachelorette.

Fans of those shows will love this one. In Rose Callaghan's new show, 'Will You Accept This Rose?', Rose takes the audience through a crash course of everything The Bachelor. A clear favourite show for any fans of the series, fear not, however, those who are unfamiliar with the premise. Rose takes you through all the characters, the archetypes, the stories and the drama in a way that is funny and entertaining for all. In the end, The Bachelor boils down to vapid relationships and interactions. If you understand all the best and worst people you've ever met, then you will understand this show. In the end, this show is about relationships. Horrible, awkward and very rarely amazing relationships. Interspersed between background and stories of The Bachelor are tales from Rose's personal life that are more bizarre then what any reality show could cook up. 'Will You Accept This Rose?' is a journey into the weird and wonderful parts of love that are stranger than fiction.

Rose Callaghan's comedy style fluctuates from absolute dead-pan, to unapologetically sarcastic. When it comes to the dramas of love, she approaches it with a sceptical excitement. The audience can't help but be as giddy as Rose as her quest for love tumbles into horrible mishaps. The show is broken up into two segments. First, a breaking down of the show, The Bachelor, which is full of caricatures and deconstructing of typical reality show personalities.

Rose is crude and punchy and she goes over all the best and worst people to appear on the show, including some personal interactions she's had with contestants. From there, the show evolves into a harrowing tale of how much more peculiar and weird her own experiences have been. Rose approaches this with an attitude and tone which make some of the more embarrassing and sometimes grotesques aspects of her stories light and hilarious.

This show undoubtedly has a target market. Fans of The Bachelor or cheesy love stories in general, will love this show. However, Rose Callaghan's presence and writing is more than enough to drag all audience members into the askew world of reality TV and romance.

'Will You Accept This Rose?' will be performing from the 22nd to the 24th of February at The Howling Owl. Tickets range from $25 to $27. Purchase your tickets from Fringetix now. Come see a show that makes light of the picturesque world of reality TV. 4/5 Stars.
