Japanese food has its own distinct flavour and is today one of our much loved cuisines. The dishes are fresh, beautifully prepared and cover all our taste requirements from salty, sour bitter and sweet. Each dish is delicately made and with upmost care using fresh ingredients and produce. Located in the Bohemian quarter of Darlinghurst, near several playhouses and Art Galleries, Rosan Japanese Cuisine is an ideal choice.
This wonderful traditional style Japanese restaurant is the creation of Hiroshi Miura. Small and intimate with a few traditional touches in decor, his staff welcome you with a warm greeting and offer diligent service. I only had a short space of time to enjoy the cuisine before seeing a play, so with a quick glance at the menus, my mouth was watering.
The usual suspects appear on the menus, my favourite generally being Sashimi and Sushi. My friend prefers the cooked varieties like Tempura, Dumplings,Tsukune or Yakitori. So we decided on a quick mixed order to share and what a visual feast it was.
Japanese Cuisine still has its place in the exotic genre, as it represents a contradictory structure of familiarity; it's still fashionable and familiar but at the same time different and sometimes unusual. It is also a much loved cuisine for the healthy diet conscious consumers due to its fresh and lean qualities.
Rosan won't disappoint you. Not only is the cuisine prepared with love, it is presented like a work of art. You can easily see the great eye for detail that Hiroshi Miura's and his team have for their desire to create a true traditional gastronomic experience. If you enjoy Japanese food this is one to seek out.
