Hidden away from the usual main strip of cafes and restaurants at North Sydney, under the pedestrian walkway bridge adjacent to the Elizabeth St Fitness First, you'll find The Roots Café.
The industrial décor and funky tunes invite you to have time out as you peruse the coffee collaborative offerings and enticing menu. Their daily coffee menu is shown on the check board, along with their Single Origins as v60 (Pour Over) - a delicate palate, Single Origins as Syphon (2 Cups) - a dazzling taste sensation which is only available after 10am and an assorted Organic Teas (try the pomegranate tea), Tiro and Sparkling Water.
The Roots offer a quick and easy breakfast menu which includes Banana Bread with ricotta/jam, Sourdough Toast 5 ricotta/jam, Avocado Toast with lemon and extra virgin olive oil, Toasted Muesli, Almond and Cranberry with Rhubarb compote and yoghurt and Bircher Muesli with seasonal fruit and yoghurt.
The hot breakfast items, such as the Bacon Egg Roll with house relish and mayo, 3 Cheese Toastie, Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella and Pesto Toastie and Coddled Eggs, which always catch my eye and tempt me every time.
Their selection of sandwiches include salty sweet Ruebens, Poached Chicken and I can't go past Roast Pork. They also offer delicious salads and a vegetarian options.
Coffe and lunch menu
I couldn't go past the Roast Pork Sandwich with crackling and currant jam watercress and mayo; perfect for that rainy cold day. My other favourites include the beetroot and holumi salad and poached chicken quinoa salad.
Tasty sandwiches and salads
I've found my little hideaway that puts a smile on my face when in need of a coffee fix during the work week. Little moments like this to take time out of the rat race is to be enjoyed. The Roots puts you in a kind of mood, only caffeine can bring.
