Room 19 is the new kid in town, as they have barely been open for 2 months. It's located on the trendy Rundle Street and is run by a husband-wife duo.
The menu is hearty and features a heavy Asian influence.
Creamed corn with miso roasted mushroom, furikake and sourdough
My friend enjoyed her dish and described it as more of a 'bake' than a soup.
Stew beef noodles - slow cooked beef brisket, poached egg. egg noodles, Asian greens, spring onion, fried garlic, angel hair chilli and lime
The noodles were cooked al dente and the beef was tender, however the sauce was a bit bland. I would have preferred a chilli oil to give it a nice kick instead of the chilli strand garnish, which was pretty but did not offer any flavour.
Yuzu Hot Cake - Yuzu ice cream, almond hot cake, hazelnut butter, cinnamon crumb, yuzu gel, hazelnut cream & dried citrus
This came highly rated by my other friends. The presentation was very nice, and it makes for a good boomerang when you pour the sauce all over the dish.
My coffee was okay but my friend really enjoyed her matcha latte, which wasn't too sweet.
Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe. If you'd like to visit, Room 19 is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 7 am to 3 pm, and on the weekends from 8 am to 3 pm.
