Summer's coolest Rooftop
Looking for that cool vibe that is synonymous with summer in Sydney? InterContinental Double Bay's newly opened bar Rooftop has this market cornered for sophisticated twenty and thirty somethings. Away from the hectic CBD, Rooftop has a smooth feel and a gorgeous view over the harbour from the top floor of this five-star jewel in Double Bay's crown.
I was lucky enough to visit Rooftop for a mid-week function but it is open every day from 12noon to one hour after sunset and welcomes groups, with the advantage of first come, first serve seating and no minimum spend. For those looking for an informal meeting place for drinks on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon, this has to be on your list. You'll be mixing it with the beautiful people by the poolside, enjoying summer fresh cocktails from the bar.
In fact, let's talk more about the cocktails. Curated by mixologist Grant Collins, the summer 2016/17 menu is inspired by 'spritz', combining Chandon's new line of orange bitters-infused sparkling wine and Belvedere Vodka's fine spirit offering. My favourite is the Cucumber and Honeycomb vodka cocktail but Grapefruit and Candied Apple Belvedere Spritz may be more your style.
If you are in for an afternoon session, why not also order from the impressive Small Bites menu which includes a flavour burst of Heirloom Tomato and Buffalo mozzarella and Smokey BBQ pulled pork sliders, both of which I can personally vouch for, along with the exquisite sushi platters from distinguished restaurant Sake.
Drinks at Rooftop is a summer experience not to be missed and will close for the season in April 2017. So, if you and your friends are a little bored of your local and hanker for a resort-style feel with a touch of glamour and relaxed vibes, make the very worthwhile trip to Double Bay and sample all that Rooftop has to offer.
