Many of us are aware about this charity, however, for those who do not know the details, Ronald McDonald House Perth keeps families close by providing a home away from home for regional West Australian families who have a sick child who is in hospital receiving treatment in Perth.
It is hard to imagine living in a regional area, your child gets ill, and without notice, you have to suddenly find somewhere to stay while your child receives necessary treatment in Perth.
As well as this, you have a very sick child who could even have a life-threatening illness and you're not sure how long you'll be away for. You still have to pay your bills but you cannot work as your child is the most important thing in your life.
Enter Ronald McDonald house - they provide FREE accommodation to families when they have to travel far from home to obtain specialist medical care for their sick child.
Here, they provide a safe and comfortable home away from home where the whole family can stay until the child no longer needs to be in hospital or finishes treatment.
McDonalds food chain provides major support for this venture, and in 2015 a new Ronald McDonald House opened its doors for these people in WA. Situated in Nedlands which is near to our new Perth Children's Hospital, it is a 47 bedroom "house" with excellent facilities which are appreciated by so many who have sick children and are very stressed.
THE HIKEIn order to keep this "House" operating and providing this much-needed support to parents and families, they need to raise money from the public.
To this end they are having a hike through the beautiful Margaret River wine region - what a wonderful place to hike with its interesting flora and fauna, its charming towns, the gourmet food, and of course, the fabulous wineries!
With stunning beaches and views, you could be supporting this worthwhile cause while you spend some time in this region.
