After a visit to the wonderful Bridge Road Film Festival (Saturdays, April - June 2014) we were famished. Luckily the festival has links to local businesses offering deals and discounts and this is how we discovered Romulus & Remus.

It seems that lots of people already know about this great pizza joint on Bridge Road as it was busy all night. Most of the tables were already booked when we arrived but we were given a choice of a high table to ourselves or large, wooden, olive tree housing, crate to share with others. There is a row of cosy looking booths along one wall which looked great for sharing with a bunch of friends or family. The restaurant is well-equipped for larger gatherings too with a long bench the length of the restaurant. My advice; book in advance - for the weekends at least!

We indulged in the $20 pizza and drink deal but there was everything you would expect from a good Italian on the menu; antipasti, pasta, meat, fish. They even offer gluten free pizzas for those with a wheat intolerance.

The pizza was very tasty indeed. Between us we tried a crispy pancetta and pork pizza with cauliflower(!) from the menu, and a spicy meat pizza from the specials board. Both were delicious with a nice thin, crispy base and just the right balance of pomodoro and cheese. I had been sceptical about the combination of cauliflower and pizza but it went well with the other ingredients and the cherry tomatoes were so juicy they burst in the mouth like little tomato bombs. The pizzas are large and neither of us were able to finish. Bizarrely, we were told that the restaurant's insurance does not allow them to provide containers to takeaway leftovers so with belts straining we sadly bid farewell to the remaining slices.

Luckily, as is commonly known, humans in fact have two stomachs - one for savoury food and one for dessert - so we were able to delve into a lovely coconut semi-freddo. It melted almost as soon as hitting the tongue with an aftertaste of coconut and pineapple.

For drinks we were treated to a 'bespoke' red and a range of craft beers on tap.

As a couple we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere however as group this place would be a great night out.
