Following her award winning productions of Richard lll and The Pillowman, director Megan Dansie will present Shakespeare's classic play Romeo and Juliet at Little Theatre, The Cloisters, University of Adelaide 3 May – 17 May 2014.

What is particularly exciting with this production of the greatest love story of all time is the Theatre Guild is involving as many students and young people as possible. The cast consists of many actors at or just a little older than the characters they are performing. The play is set during Renaissance times in late 15th Century Italy, which means Juliet can remain not quite fourteen and the fights will be with swords. Shakespeare's themes of love, sex, violence and death are still relevant today, with young people being influenced by the love vs. lust and the violence between young men.

Megan Dansie has drawn on her deep interest in historical costume production, her friends and resources to help costume the play. The costumes include handmade real silk and linen gowns along with outfits made especially for this production. She is also excited in being able to work with some of Adelaide's best live steel sword fighters who have coached the cast in fencing and choreographed the fight scenes.

The Little Theatre with its balcony will come alive with colour, action, romance, humour, drama and poetic beauty of Shakespeare.

The large cast comprises Alex Antoniou, Anita Canala, Akkshey Caplash, Andre Chaney, Nicholas Clippingdale, Ronald Densley, Paul Duldig, Lindsay Dunn, Gary George, Ned Goult, Abby Hampton, Brad Martin, Steve Marvanek, Molly McCormack, Jonathan Pheasant, Paul Rodda, Cate Rogers, Bridget Rossiter, David Sandison, Angela Short and Andrew Spencer.
