A Romantic Escape to Leura

So, you're looking to get out of Sydney. Perhaps you're after a romantic weekend away; somewhere relaxing, where you can wind down and get back to nature.

Without realising it, you're thinking of Leura in the Blue Mountains.

Not far from the Three Sisters and with an ample supply of rainforest and scenic walks, Leura is a lovely weekend destination and it's only one and half hours from Sydney.

We drove, but there is a train station in the heart of Leura as well.

If you're planning to go up, plan to book well in advance as the selection of beautiful B&Bs book out quite quickly, as do the fine restaurants.

Silks Brasserie , with one SMH chef's hat, books out four to six weeks in advance for dinner, but you'll be able to get in for a cheeky lunch most days for a good feed.



The Magical Manderley , named after the gorgeous house in Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca, is a sweet two room guest house, run by the lovely Robyn Piddington. The choices for accommodation are The Treetops or The Terrace.



Well priced at $460 and $380 per room for the weekend, the tariff includes breakfast provisions (Treetops is self contained and Terrace as a breakfast bar), aperitifs, chocolates, candles, champagne, mineral water, bottled nectars and juice.

The rooms are warm and welcoming, with dimmer lighting, gas fires, large hydro-jet spas, electric blankets and mood music.



The rooms are well maintained and we had a lovely time over the weekend, staying there. The Magical Manderley oozes romance, as does the town of Leura with its boutique candle shops, galleries, fresh home made fudge, teapot museum small town vibe.

Escape Sydney and explore the mountains as you enjoy each other's company.
