If you are looking for a lovely wedding gift or a special way to romance your lover then definitely check out the Wheel of Brisbane 's VIP packages because there is something really special about what they offer.

The hubby and I were lucky enough to score a voucher for the 30 minute ride from my Maid of Honour and we were very thrilled to give it a go last Saturday night. When we arrived we were jumped to the front of the queue and were offered seats until our private gondola was ready. Whilst waiting we both choose a nice Sauvignon Blanc from the Sirromet Winery drinks list (included in the package I might add) and took in the bright lights twirling above us.

The Wheel, whist on the small size in comparison to its cousins in London, LA and Singapore, is still worth a visit, even if you just go for a few rounds. It stands at 60 metres high and allows riders to take in beautiful views of South Bank, the Brisbane River and the CBD. When we piled on, we were also treated to a stunning full moon and an amazing lightning show. In all honestly I actually struggle with heights so looking up at the sky's show was a great distraction from staring at the ground, which when you are in the top carriage, is really, really far away. In fact Tom had to coax my hands away from my face so we could enjoy our meal. I did however get over my fear by the end of the ride and was able to enjoy the view completely.

The VIP experience involves some yummy eats from the Mariosarti Ristorante Italiano . I must admit however that we were under the impression we were getting an Appetizer Share Platter (which is what is advertised on the website), but when we sat down in our gondola we found a sample of desserts at our table instead. So do check when you book, whether you are in for dinner or dessert. However if you do want to book for later in the evening, I can confirm that the dessert is scrumptious. At least we now have an excuse to go back and try out the appetizers.

For the next thirty minutes we enjoyed sipping our wine, nibbling at our dessert and kissing away in our tinted booth. Not only was it romantic, it was really a very super special date.
