Roma Street Parkland is one of Brisbane City's greatest, green assets. The parkland is located on Roma Street, near the heart of Brisbane city and is also accessible from Albert Street.

If you're not from Brisbane, a good reference point is Roma Street Station as the parklands are located directly behind the transit centre.

The parkland is the perfect picnic spot, bring a blanket and curl up on the grass with a basket full of your favourite foods, or take advantage of the free public barbeques and picnic tables.

If you're after something more sophisticated for a weekend lunch, the Melange Café does a great coffee , an a la carte menu and cabinet food while boasting views of the lower gardens.

The parklands gardens are breath-taking, and vast. Guided walks are available (free of charge) or simply meander around the gardens on your own, but keep an eye out for the huge lizards who have taken up residence there.

For the kids, there is a playground in the upper section of the parkland which will keep them entertained.

Roma Street Parkland is a free, fun and family-friendly oasis located in the heart of Brisbane City, and a great place to go to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Don't forget to take some sunscreen and a hat as the Parklands is a real sunspot during the summer months.
