An International Relations/German student at UQ, I am eager to discover the best of what Brisbane has to offer.

The Roma Street Parklands is an exquisite way to spend a morning. I stumbled upon it accidental attempting to find Queen Street Mall from an unfamiliar direction. Happy not to be laden with bags, I explored the remarkable flora and admired the elegant landscapes.
Should I have been surprised to find such attractive gardens in the middle of Brisbane City? Perhaps not, but one could very easily spend an entire morning here without even realising how much time had passed. For this reason perhaps, the Roma Street Parklands seems to be the 'Narnia' of Brisbane's inner city. Out of sight and untainted by its industrious surroundings, it possesses a colourful and an energetic atmosphere.
Perfect for families, the Parklands have many ponds and fountains that children are able to splash away the afternoon in. Children's play equipment and the park's prairie-like grasslands are an ideal place for children to rid themselves of energy before nap time. There is even a pre-recorded audio-guide train which tours the park.
I have recently moved to Brisbane and have been looking for a nice place to take my kids that can provide an escape from the 'city feel' of much of Brisbane. Thanks to your beautiful description of Roma Parklands, I think that I will have to pay the Parklands a visit! Also, thank you for considering the facilities for children in your article. It is excellent knowing that my kids will have some equipment to use if they grow tired of the beautiful scenery that your pictures showcase.
Great article! I have been meaning to take a trip to the parklands and now I can't wait to go! It's amazing how such a beautiful oasis is hidden within the concrete infrastructure and the bustling city! Thanks for that insightful and beautifully written article, Christabel!
