Scooped Ice Cream is so yesterday
The only reason I discovered this awesome place was because I found them on Groupon and thought I would give it a go. Rollys Roll is a Thai inspired ice cream parlour, serving ice cream like they do on the side of the street in Thailand. The ice cream is not scooped, but rolled. It's made fresh in front of you when you order.
But that doesn't mean you have to wait forever while it's made. In fact, the liquid and fresh ingredients are turned into ice cream right before your very eyes in less than two minutes. The trick they use is a cold pan that reaches temperatures well below -30c. This means the ice cream produces smaller ice molecules, making it smoother and creamier and eliminates the need to add fats or emulsifiers and other additives to achieve the same rich, creamy textue we all love in ice cream.

Rolling the Ice Cream
This has become one of my favourite ice cream shops lately, and with only one shop currently in Melbourne it's a bit of a hidden gem. There are so many delicious options to try in store, and it's fun watching the ice cream makers behind the glass as they create our sweet treat. All their ice creams come with toppings as well, which makes them even more mouth-watering. This is definitely a nice treat for the kids or for yourself, and something different from the traditional ice cream scoop most of us are familiar with. I give this a BIG thumbs up, and I will definitely be going back. I now prefer my ice cream rolled rather than scooped. What about you?
