You just try the pulled pork pizza
Last Thursday the husband and I were invited to the official launch of Rolling Stone Pizza's new truck. This exciting event was held at the Wandering Cooks venue as part of their weekly Thank Truck It's Thursday event. Basically every Thursday the venue becomes home to a couple of food trucks (with variety) and this week saw us travel there in the rain to get our hands on some delicious pizza.
Upon arrival, we met the lovely Dale and Jason Hunt, the owner and operators of this magnificent mobile pizza producer. They explained that previously they cooked their pizza from a trailer attached to the back of the car, but now they are the only pizza food truck that has its oven inside making them an entirely unique entity.
We also discovered they can be found at the Sandgate Village Markets, The Botanical Gardens, Downey Park Food Trucks, Picnic Hill Food trucks in Redcliff plus too many other places to mention, so there really is no excuse not to give these guys ago. If you want a full list of there pizza-cooking locations "like" their Facebook page. They also cater at other functions including private parties, fetes, sporting events and even weddings. (HINT: we had a mobile wood fire pizza company cater for our wedding and it rocked!)
After chatting to our hosts we decided it was about time we gave one of their pizzas a go. Tom chose a Hawaiian delight and I chowed down on a Pulled Pork Pizza. Both were absolutely delicious but the pulled-pork creation was simply superb. I am a massive fan of anything pulled pork and this was right up there with one of the best was to serve this meat of all time. I especially loved the slithers of crunchy pear atop of this perfect round dish.
So we sat and nibbled at our yummy meals for an hour taking in the city lights and the sprinkling rain. It didn't talk long for us to actually demolish our delicious means but the atmosphere at Wandering Cooks is so lovely we were happy to just chat the night away there. The actual pizzas were actually in perfect portion sizes; just enough to fill our bellies without feeling stuffed (although the husband was pretty set on going back for a second).
I would truly recommend that if you see this brand spanking new truck pull up to a market place near you, that you run yourself to the front of the line to sample one of their brilliant meals on offer.
