Dust the skates off and roll to funky music
There's a lot of cool stuff happening when Sydney Festival begins on 7 January and Roller Jam is one such event from a myriad of events running around various sites. Hyde Park is the location for this skating do with DJ's pumping out beats.
Each Saturday during January from 2.30pm to 6.30pm, you can glide around the Archibald Fountain to your heart's content and boogie to dance and electric funk music provided by several veteran DJ's. Nick Toth brings a slice of the 1970's New York club scene whilst Paris Groovescooter brings his 'bounce, rock, skate, roll' soundtrack, CC: Disco presents groovy gospel and Adi Toohey plays a mix of disco, funk and soul.
If you're not a good skater, that's alright as this free event is for all abilities to participate. Under 14's will need to bring a helmet as well as their skates.
If you don't have wheels, there's still plenty to enjoy with the Meriton Festival Village open. Here you'll find free entertainment on the Village Stage and ticketed events in the Spiegeltent that include comedy and cabaret with The Hair Salon. There's also the House of Mirrors to get lost in and plenty of delicious eats available.
