If you are afflicted by an intense fear of heights, you might worsen your symptoms by visiting Rolf's Place but if not, soldier on! Located in Ongata Rongai, this restaurant is on the other end of a suspended bridge.

Rolf's place entrance
The scenery speaks for itself and glorious songs of nature will greet you upon entry. I can see how once upon a time, Rolf's place would have been a magical wonderland. Quite honestly, the only redeeming quality about present day Rolf's place is that it is surrounded by nature and you're likely to interact with baboons during your visit.

Their food menu is centred around German delicacies, owing to the fact that the original owner was German. However, a lot of the menu items were no longer available despite still being listed.

To start, my companion had the fish and coconut soup.

Pumpkin soup starter
It wasn't great and wasn't horrible either. It was served with two slices of bread with jam and some margarine on the side. We were perplexed at the combination and the waiter later confessed that the chef erred in his presentation - the bread was never intended to have jam.
For our main meals, we had the T-bone steak and veal. It was another case of expectation vs. reality.

veal
Whilst the food tasted alright, presentation was absolutely shocking and the veal which was meant to be accompanied with rice was served on its own with mushrooms - apparently the chef's decision.

T-bone steak
The T-bone steak was.., not a T-bone steak. It appeared to be a large portion of meat, which we think was boiled before it was fried or grilled. It was served with fries that were equally underwhelming.
All things said and done, I would recommend Rolf's Place for an afternoon beverage of choice whilst simultaneously drinking in the scenery. Definitely not the place to go for an amazing dining experience in its current state.
