Roleystone Markets specialise in distinctive mix of quality
Roleystone is situated in the south-eastern corridor of Perth in Western Australia and mainly consists of large residential blocks surrounded by native bushland and rural properties. Originally the town was spelt differently as it was named after a farm established by Charles Churchman in 1830 – "Rolleston". Many years after Charles' death, Thomas Buckingham purchased the property and referred to it as "Rollingstone", although the area was often referred to as "The Rolling Stone" or "Rowley Stone" in police reports.
In later years, Roleystone became known by the outside world with local identity Kevin Peek, who was a guitarist of the band Sky, an Australian/English instrumental rock, classical and jazz band. Kevin named a Sky song after his hometown of Roleystone.
Roleystone is now home to a quarterly market held each year and which in recent times has supported local Roleystone groups such as the Volunteer Fire Brigade, Roleystone Community Gardens, Duke of Edinburgh Award at Roleystone Community College and Starick House.
The markets are a short thirty-kilometre drive from Perth and a great place to buy high-quality, homegrown and handmade products. Nothing beats a drive in the country to a local market.
Stallholders are chosen to provide a variety of vendors giving all those who attend a distinctive mix of quality art, craft, and produce to purchase, and preference is given to goods that are locally handcrafted or made. Any applications for stallholders are notified three weeks prior to the market date on whether you are accepted or not. Registration must then be secured, and payment made in forty-eight hours thereafter. All information on making an application, cost per site, requirements, and public liability can be read here.
To make contact with the organisers of the market, you can email – firstname.lastname@example.org or go to the contact us page on the website.
