It is on again for young and old, your best Twilight Christmas Market experience, Sunday, December 10, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Come early and explore the beautiful Roleystone area, before a fun afternoon and evening at the Roleystone Twilight Christmas Market 2017.
Wander around the many carefully positioned handpicked stalls, fed by numerous food vendors, while being entertained by roving musicians into the twilight.
For the newbies
Turn onto the Brookton Highway, off Albany Highway Kelmscott, and you pass through one of the nicest valleys in the Perth Hills to the Roleystone Markets, situated in Cross Park. Turn off at Holden road and follow the signs to the market location situated along Jarrah Road between Wygonda and Heather Road, just 30 kilometres south-east of Perth.
Roleystone Markets take advantage of their position at Cross Park, somewhat akin to a country showground, situated on a huge oval, with space for the kids to play ball, or run themselves ragged. Shady trees surrounding the large grassed area provide a spacious and protective bushland setting to enjoy the day.
Buskers at the last two markets were extremely well received, adding a great vibe. Consequently, this form of entertainment will continue with talented musicians and singers belting out some cool tunes. Naturally, being the Christmas Market, there is a definite seasonal flavour with some carol singers, and kids entertaining with song and dance, plus the ever-popular Petra and the Belly Dancers.
Meats, sweets, drinks and everything in between
Roleystone Markets continue their theme of quality over quantity with local and bespoke over imported and mass-produced items. Around 115 stalls are ready to share their wares with an amazing array of 20 food vendors surrounding the market stalls.
A tank full of food trucks and vans will keep you fuelled up as you stroll among the amazing variety of stalls. Anton's Bratwurst, Bona Pizza, Malaysian Vegetarian Delicacies, Meast, Nicely Spiced, Grilled to the Mac, Sylvie's Bistro, The Turkish Saj, Viking Waffles, Warung Ade, Justchillin Van, Bobby J's, Crush Juice Van, Cup of Eden, On the Frog and Toad Cafe, Rawsters, Scone Crazy, Sweet Streats, Sweet Dream Foods.
Unique, quirky, variety and quality
With the focus on locally sourced (with most locally made) products, often with the artist on hand, and a handmade/no imports philosophy, Roleystone Markets attract many unique vendors. Including, Four Sisters Recycle, who use recycled sheets and doona covers for their mats, Walkers Workshop, a local metal worker with some stunning work for your garden, and beautiful wood grained cutting boards by Steve Baker.
The reputation of Roleystone Markets is spreading, with over 115 stall holders keen to display their wares (some fabulous new stalls), and as always, each one has been hand-picked to ensure variety, quality and the uniqueness or sometimes quirkiness that the Market is becoming known for.
The Market for kids
Kids are especially welcome, and when not engaging in the activities, they have a large oval to run themselves ragged, while you browse around the stalls or watch them, while having a tasty dinner from one of the food vendors, with music to boot.
With the focus on kids and presents, the Market Committee sponsor some of the children's activities, that kids can enjoy for free, leaving extra in the pockets of mums, dads, grandparents and carers, to purchase those unique presents.
Cross Park boasts an excellent skate park for kids big and small. Jumping castles, animal farm, face painting, camel rides, and a great selection of other activities complete the fun.
Old McDonalds Farm and face paintingwill be free, and Sand Art Cards, a huge hit last year, will again provide enjoyment as kids make their own cards for a gold coin donation.
The popular Umbrella Art, back again this Christmas with sponsorship from the Market Committee, making this fabulous activity more affordable. Consequently, the kids get to design, paint and take away their own umbrella. How awesome is that?
Keep an eye out for a visit from the guy in red (no, not Spiderman) sporting a white beard, with his band of fairies and elves handing out gifts for the kids
