I am a busy soccer mum who loves finding interesting places to enjoy a meal

Rogue by name but not in the nature of dining
Hidden away on a side street in Newstead is this unassuming cafe/bistro. We were invited to celebrate our daughter's birthday here so we decided to meet up for Sunday breakfast.

Rogue Bistro is only open for breakfast on the weekends between 8-12pm and when we arrived for our 8 o'clock reservation, there was already a line up of people waiting to be seated. The interior is quite spacious, bright and with very simple decor.

They have a small refined modern European menu to choose from with a unique combination of different flavours.

But first...coffee

So once we had ordered, we settled back with our coffees and enjoyed the atmosphere which was quite pleasant despite the busyness. We noted a few customers had bought their furry kids along with them and they too were well looked after.

We were extra impressed with our waiter who was friendly and very obliging to our wishes.

When our food arrived I was impressed by the presentation and couldn't wait to try. I had ordered avocado with chorizo and poached eggs with hazelnut dukkah, dill cream cheese and sourdough.($21). My favourite breakfast option.

My husband along with our son in law chose the omelette with pork belly and crackling, nduja yoghurt, bbq asparagus and house hollandaise with ciabatta ($21)

Our daughter thought she would try the savoury waffle with popcorn chicken, fried egg, smoked aioli, carrot jam and maple ($20). She was tempted by the popcorn chicken.

The dishes tasted as good as they looked and were thoroughly enjoyed. Our daughter found the savoury waffle very filling and wasn't able to finish it all, though she did have a large matcha latte as well.

Rogue Bistro is open for dinner 6 days a week from 5.30pm with an interesting menu and a full bar menu. We would strongly suggest reservations and these can be done online. There is street parking right out front of the bistro.

At the end of our breakfast, we were all happy. Happy with the excellent coffee, tasty and yummy food, great service and fantastic company. A great start to the day.

A place that is worth another visit.
