I have to say, I was surprised, given Brisbane's history with the name "Rogues" that this place in Newstead chose the name "". Hidden along a street full of warehouses and buildings that look like they have yet to be cleaned up after the recent floods, I found a cute little building set back from the curb, with astroturf out the front.

My friend and I were visiting for a weekday lunch. We were greeted and seated inside, and offered glasses of chilled tap water and menus. There were a few choices on the lunch menu to mull over, but not too many, and decisions were made. It was disappointing that as a bar and bistro, there was no ginger beer available; instead orange juice was selected.

The chilli crab spaghettini and Waygu burger and chips were the dishes selected. My friend enjoyed his spaghettini dish, but expected more bite to the chilli. I loved the presentation of the Waygu burger - on a breadboard, with chips in a mini deep fryer basket and the aioli in a shot glass. As with many burgers, it was too big to tackle using a traditional method, so I opened it up and used my knife and fork. I don't eat a lot of beef, so when I do, I want something that's worth eating, and this burger definitely fell into that category.

is located at 14 Austin St, Newstead. I'll be back, likely for an evening drink or three.
