A Mexican Fiesta in the heart of the Redlands
Somewhere in the last eighteen months or so Mexican really became the new in thing for local restaurants. As with most of these dine-in/take away establishments they either be really good or really terrible (sometimes both depending on which night you go!) I'm glad to say that Rodeo at Wellington Point falls into the first category.
It's a fairly small restaurant tucked in amongst a variety of different cuisines on Wellington Point's popular Main Road precinct. For a Wednesday night they were quite busy yet the lone young man waiting on everyone seemed to do an excellent job on making sure everyone was happy.
If you're expecting any ground breaking menu choices here then you've come to the wrong restaurant. It boasts the usual array of nachos, tortillas, burritos and enchiladas, but they really do it very well.
We had never been to the restaurant before but dined with regulars who informed us that the meals had been consistently generous and tasty. If our visit was an indication they were definitely right. We all opted for fajitas - three chicken and one beef. The come served on separate plates, one with the soft tortilla, salads and sides and one sizzling plate with the meat of your choice with rice, vegetables and sauce.
I went for the Chipotle and lime chicken and it was an absolute delight. The chicken was well seasoned, with just the right amount of spice and the salad was fresh and crisp. To be completely honest the serving sizes were so generous that, if you shared an entree as well (all of which look very tempting) you could almost certainly get away with one serve of the fajitas between two. If this wasn't enough to love, Rodeo also allows BYO wine, making a great meal out even more affordable.
As previously mentioned the restaurant is small and popular so I would highly recommend making a reservation. Rodeo has to be one of the tastiest, best value for money restaurants I have been to for quite some time. As a local to the area I can scarcely believe that I haven't been there already but I can guarantee that I will be back.
