Rocky Valley Dam/Lake is located about 50-60 minutes drive from Mount Beauty and 3 hours 40 minutes from Melbourne CBD.

It is a beautiful man-made dam and has a capacity of 28,000 mega litres of cool, clean water. The dam is used during winter for making snow for the nearby Falls Creek alpine ski resort, a popular holiday and ski destination.

The lake can be used for canoeing, kayaking and swimming, boating (launch ramps on either side of the dam wall allow for easy launching and most types of boats-boats up to 10HP capacity are allowed), fishing or simply to sit beside and have a peaceful picnic and take in the gorgeous scenery.

The lake is surrounded by magnificent alpine areas and is a site to behold.

The dam/lake is also home to the annual Mile High Dragon Boat Championships annually (January 27-30)
