Did you know that there is more to The Rocks than just a tourist precinct filled with sleek accommodations, trendy cafes and restaurants, funky bars and the weekend market? It is an area in the central part of Sydney that is rich with the history of early European settlers. What was previously home to sailors, soldiers, convicts and street gangs some 200 years ago is the birthplace of modern Sydney. The Rocks Pub Walk by Peek Tours takes you on a journey into a bygone era of the area with dark history and colorful characters.
During the 2-hour guided tour, you will tread through the cobbled streets and alleys of The Rocks that bore witness to the lives of convicts, larrikin gangs and locals from first European settlement of Australia. You will hear stories of the fight for the The Rocks, the Rum Rebellion, the outbreak of Bubonic Plague, haunted places and many more over a beer at 3 of the city's oldest pubs. After the tour, you can enjoy a tasty meal and another beer with your fellow tour members. Peek Tours believes in providing affordable tour experiences for anyone and everyone. Whether you're living in Sydney or just visiting, The Rocks Pub Walking Tour is an excellent way to see The Rocks in a different light.
