There are plenty of dog beaches around Perth but did you know that there are also horse beaches? It seems that swimming can be a very good exercise for horses and just like people they also enjoy the chance to cool off. On the weekend of 12 -13 November, the Channel 7 combines a day at the beach and the excitement of a race day with all proceeds donated to charity. There's also a free community festival so get ready for the whole family to have some fun at Australia's only beachside race meeting.

Proudly hosted by the Rotary Club of Palm Beach WA, the . It is an important fundraiser for the Rotary Club and its beneficiaries - Australian Alzheimer's Research Foundation, Variety WA and other projects.

The six-race program is designed with the health and welfare of the racehorses in mind. There is no betting and no whips are used. The horses enjoy a post-race swim and the organisers encourage everyone to visit the stalls and see the horses.

The fun begins on Saturday at Churchill Park on the foreshore. From 4:00pm, the free community festival offers entertainment, rides and showbags. There's a climbing wall, crafts, face painting and much more. Bring a picnic or visit the food trucks and settle down at 7:30pm at the free outdoor cinema to watch Secretariat (PG), the fascinating story of a great racehorse.

Sunday is race day! For those over 18, the Palm Beach Oasis is the ideal place to socialise and watch all the action. This licenced area, open from noon to 5pm, offers a selection of bars, gourmet food trucks, live music and a shaded area near the finish line. Tickets are on sale now – don't miss out.

Meanwhile, Churchill Park is the place for free viewing of the races. The community festival commences at 10am. The park will be packed with food trucks, entertainment, market stalls and free amusement rides.
