Each year, the Rockefeller Center holds an art festival. During that time, areas in and around Rockefeller Center, including the concourse are transformed into a "tent city".

Underneath these tents are artisians of all kinds. During the Rockefeller Center Arts Festival , stroll down the wide aisles left between the tents and you'll see welders, glassblowers, sculptors, ceramic makers and designers, and just about any other kind of artist you can imagine.

Because some of them do work with open flame or other heating devices, you may only get to see them from behind a rope, but that's fine; after all, the artists as well as New York City event planners have only your safety in mind. Parents may still want to keep their children firmly in check, however, to avoid any accidents happening.

You can choose from literally hundreds of art pieces to purchase. If you're a yearly visitor to the Festival, you can add to your collection. If you're an out-of-towner, you can carry home a very unique souvenir.
