Do you love all things retro? Does vintage make your heart skip a beat? Do the fifties and sixties get you swinging? Then hold on to your rockabilly hats and get ready to rock, roll, rev and go retro at the
Rockabilly Riot Lifestyle Expo at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in August.
The expo is an Australian first for lovers of the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. It's brought to you by the creators of the
Greenlight Rockabilly Facebook page , an online community of more than 26,000 people who are passionate about the music, cars, dancing, pinup, custom culture, and fashions of days gone by. Plans are in place for the expo to be held in a different city each year, as well as an overseas destination, but downtown Bris Vegas has the honour of hosting the inaugural event.
This isn't your average expo. It will include not one, but
three blockbuster concerts featuring Australian and international artists,
a huge range of exhibitors in the areas of retro and vintage fashions, beauty and accessories, automotive, collectables, photography, art, and home decor, and an authentic
1950's vintage street market where hobby retailers will showcase their wares. There will also be workshops, seminars, Q&A sessions and meet 'n' greets with guests.
If all of that is not enough you might like to test your luck in two competitions with fabulous prizes. Show your hot rod, muscle car or classic in the
Rockabilly Riot Show 'n' Shine competition where the first prize is a trip to Rockabilly Riot New Zealand in Jan/Feb 2014. If you're interested in pinup styling then strut your stuff in the
Miss Rockabilly Riot 2013 competition. You could win a trip to be a guest judge for Miss Rockabilly Riot New Zealand and Miss Rockabilly Riot 2014, along with other prizes.
The expo officially opens with the huge Friday evening concert in the Great Hall from 5pm to 11pm on 9th August, and continues on Saturday 10th August and Sunday 11th August from 9am to 5pm each day.
A number of ticket packages can be
purchased online here . Pre-booked prices range from $22.50 for an adult one day ticket to $40 for an adult weekend ticket. Child and concession tickets are available and children under 13 are admitted free with a paying adult. For the full rock star VIP treatment you might prefer the VIP ticket for $450. Tickets purchased at the event will be more expensive.
Tickets to the concerts will soon be available through Ticketek with prices ranging from $60 to $225.
