Cheer Up Rock Lily's Brought Back Its Free Comedy Night
The Star Casino's Rock Lily is about to "Rock with Laughter" for a second time. On Thursday, August 29th three new comics will hit the stage and bring the house down.
After the success of last month's "Rock with Laughter", Rock Lily will roar once more. Headlining the rollicking evening will be Aria nominated Heath Franklin who will bring to life his stage persona, Chopper. Franklin's alter ego, Chopper, with his horseshoe moustache and aviator sunglasses, is unquestionably the funniest criminal in Australia.
Home grown comic, Luke Heggie, will also be taking the stage. In 2010, Heggie made a resolution to step out of his comfort zone and into the spotlight. The former bottle shop operator then entered and won the 2010 Raw Comedy Awards. By 2012, his tales of the every man and dry delivery had captured the attention of Sydney's Time Out Magazine and he was chosen their Comedian of the Year.
Rounding out the evening's ensemble is lawyer turned comic, Chris Radburn. Considered one of the finest comics in Australia, Radburn won the Triple M "One Mic Stand" and has scored an international feather in his cap by becoming a finalist on NBC's "Last Comic Standing". Radburn, a comedy circuit veteran, is known internationally for using his unique perspective to achieve a hilarious result.
The evening's host will again be, 'king of the absurd', Cameron Knight. Knight is recognised throughout the country for his appearances on "Stand Up Australia" and has been instrumental in organising this all-star line up at Rock Lily.
The venue was filled to standing room only last month, so, come early. Doors open at 5:00 and happy hour at the best Tequila bar in Sydney begins at 5:01. Rock Lily has terrific drink specials. Order $5.00 Crown Lagers, house wine and spirits until 7:00. If you're feeling peckish try the fish tacos from the $9.50 Tex Mex bar menu. They are divine.
The first act takes the stage at 7:00. Incredibly, there is no cover for this event. It's still absolutely free. Quality entertainment is rarely free or even cheap in Sydney, so one expects that The Star might change its mind at any moment. Check it out before the suits catch on.
