Sad because you're broke? Cheer up at a free comedy launch
The Star casino's Rock Lily, one of the best live music venues in Sydney, is debuting a fresh and frolicking monthly comedy series.
Its latest undertaking called "Rock with Laughter" will launch later this month with an all-star line-up. Headlining the evening this Thursday July 25 is none other than the gifted comic, Akmal Saleh. Egyptian born and Australian raised, Saleh, brings a unique and hilarious perspective to growing up Aussie and his quick paced insightful humour will keep you laughing all night.
Also, delivering a full set are the rollicking Chris Wainhouse and phenomenal Ben Ellwood. A well-known comic and headliner in his own right, witty and irreverent Wainhouse was the Harold Park Hotel "Comedian of the Year" in 1998, while, uproariously funny TV and radio regular, Ellwood, is a past RAW comedy NSW finalist.
Rounding out the evening's entertainment is the Buddy Goode Duo. This irreverent campy crooner was nominated for an ARIA for the hysterical album, The One and Only. The Buddy Goode Duo will never be accused of being politically correct but will plead guilty to being very funny. Cameron Knight, king of the absurd, best known from his work on Stand up Australia, has been instrumental in organising the night and will be this evening's presenter.
Come early. Doors open at 5:00 and Happy Hour starts at 5:01 with $5 Crown Lagers, house wine and spirits until 7:00. Enjoy the $9.50 Tex Mex bar menu and $10 jugs of beer all evening or splurge and try Rock Lily's signature Grand Marnier margarita.
The performers start hitting the stage at 7:00. Unbelievably, there is no cover. It's free! So check out Rock Lily this Thursday and "Rock with Laughter."
