Bring In The New Year With A Splash
Sick of ending the year with a bang? Then bring in 2013 with a splash. The 2012/2013 Rock to Rock Ocean Classic is happening at Dicky Beach on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, December 30.

There are two swims on offer here - the 2km and the 1km. Both swims begin just south of the wreck of the SS Dicky. From there they'll head north to the rocks off Ann St before tracking back to the Neil St rocks.

There's special entry categories for both families and elite competitors. Family entry to both events covers three members from the family. Remember though - the minimum age is only nine years old. The elite entry, as you could imagine, is for the best of the best.

This will be the event's fifth year and it's always been a popular one. The day is once again being organised by the nearby Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

There are also some cash prizes on offer for the best of the best. The first to finish in both the male and female categories will receive $300. Second place getters will get $200 and the men and women who come third will receive $100 each. Not too bad for an early morning swim. Entries will open closer to the event date. If you're considering come up from out of town but still want to be fresh for the race, considering staying in town a couple of days. Portobello by the Sea and the Dicky Beach Family Holiday Park offer great accommodation venues depending on your budget. It's also the perfect place to be if you want to kick on and ring in the new year on the Sunshine Coast.

The Rock to Rock Ocean Classic is always a challenge and this year promises no different. Finish off the new year by crossing the finishing line in this amazing raze.
