The buzz amongst stallholders is that this is a great market to showcase your business at. New stallholder queries are always welcome. Owner of the market is Michelle Moore. She first cut her teeth when running the Rock a Buy Baby Markets which are held on the 1st Saturday of each month at the Strathpine Community Centre.
Michelle had long thought about opening a second market which was exclusively new items only. This had come about due to high consumer demand. She wanted a central location in an area that had a high percentage of families. The venue needed to be able to provide grounds which were suitable for her immediate and future plans with the markets. When a door opened in Michelle's life that enabled her to start the 2nd market, she knew exactly where she wanted to hold them – at Aviation High in Clayfield.
Michelle says that whilst she is often very busy running 2 markets (especially in the lead up to market day) she enjoys working for herself and feels she has a good sense of work / life / family balance in her life now.
The markets usually feature anywhere between 80 and 95 stallholders. There are delicious food options available from the food court with many people coming to the markets just to get their cupcake, pizza, coffee or dumpling fix. Businesses such as Dumpling Envy and Fire-n-Dough Woodfired Pizza have been with the market since it first started. They return each month because the crowds are good and the people are friendly.
The Rock a Buy Boutique Markets have a rapidly growing Facebook page and regularly hold promotions which enable followers to win 'Market Money' in very generous amounts from $225 up. The lucky winners of the Market Money then have the chance to spend their 'cash' at the next market.
The markets offer plaster painting for kids from Plaster Surprise, facepainting, gingerbread decorating courtesy of The Little Gingerbread Cottage as well as the soulful sounds of local buskers and roving entertainers. The introduction of a seated eating area in the food court will ensure that Dads can enjoy a coffee and read the paper whilst mum browses the large array of stalls on offer.
Dates for the 2013 Rock a Buy Boutique Markets include Sunday 21st July, Sunday 25th August and Sunday 15th September. October, November and December dates are to be advised.
