In our parent's youth, it was quite common to share gardening produce over the fence, drop in a dozen eggs or a pumpkin etc. to someone who has done you a favour; even prospective son-in-law's who lived on the land would drop in extra produce as a friendly gesture. As a sole gardener, I am very much in favour of this and often share seedlings and produce with friends and family. Nothing tastes better than home-grown produce!

On the third Sunday of each month, Rochedale Community Gardens host a Food and Gardening Swap at 160 Rochedale Road, Rochedale. It does not matter if you do not grow vegetables or fruit, you may have extra herbs, jams or seedlings that could be someone's treasure, yet an overabundance in your home and yard. You will be surprised with what may be available to swap.

It is a great way to be part of a larger community group with similar values to yourself. Plus, you may meet new friends who you can share information and knowledge in your respective field.

The next is scheduled for Sunday 21 February 2021 from 8.00 to 9.00 am. If you would like to know more about this event, please go to their Facebook page here and send the organisers a message.

Please bring a hat, folding chair, card table to showcase your wares, sunglasses and water in case of a hot day.
