I love pizza but hate the bloated, greasy feeling of regret I have afterwards. Well now, I have discovered a new joint where I can have my pizza and eat it. The cafe is called RoccoPizza and is located on Findon Road in Kidman Park.

Hello pizza heaven: The front of RoccoPizza Cafe
RoccoPizza differentiates itself from the competition, by being the only pizza place that makes gluten friendly pizzas using a
sourdough base. For those of you who are health-conscious, the sourdough is made using no sugar, yeast or oil. They also make a point of not using ham or pineapple, which is a win for me. Another interesting fact is that the pizzas are made using a traditional wood fired oven. The owner has spent years perfecting the art of making authentic Italian sourdough pizza, so I'd say they know what they are doing.
I tried three different pizzas: the Vegana pizza, the Pollo Calabrese and a Vegan Dessert pizza with berries & dark Belgian chocolate. Not only were all of the pizzas delicious but while being rich in flavour, they were also all light and crisp and made with natural ingredients, so I felt great afterwards.
The Vegana pizza was a delightful web of spinach, tomato, mushrooms, red peppers and olives. The vegan mozzarella cheese could've fooled the most sophisticated cheese connoisseur- in other words, it totally tasted like cheese to me. I will definitely order this pizza again, even though I am not vegan.

The Pollo Calabrese was a beautiful chicken pizza enhanced by the Mediterranean flavours of sun-dried tomato, flor di latte mozzarella cheese and local black olives. I think that it is important to note that the cheese, unlike in most pizzas, only served to lift the pizza, rather than overpower the entire dish.

The dessert pizza could be described as a pool of berries immersed in dark chocolate. It was all kinds of deliciousness. For those of you looking for a little extra richness and decadence, there is a Nutella version of this pizza on the menu.

If you feel like pizza and want to try something a little different, I highly recommend RoccoPizza. You'll love the food and the service and will feel great afterwards.
