I have always thought very fondly of . But when trying to say why, I never really can convey the reason. After all, in terms of amenities it has the standard ones - a cute children's play area, some picnic tables and benches, and plenty of grassy areas.

The children's play area is located at a corner of the park, right next to the toilets and is a nice breezy location with plenty of mature trees providing protection, supplemented by a sun shade overhead.

There are some barbecues nearby as well, and so this spot makes for a popular location for modest children's birthday celebrations.

There is a circular flower feature of red roses and a plaque that was created:"... in memory of the people of Haberfield who gave servie in the defense of freedom and world peace".

This is one of the few parks that falls within this small, yet attractive residential suburb of Haberfield and also is probably the one with the best view.

There are paths branching out from the flower feature at the high point of the park that slope down towards the City West Link and Iron Cove Bay, giving you glimpses of the Parramatta River and people enjoying the nearby Bay Run.

Most of the times I have visited , I have usually walked at least a portion of the Iron Cove Bay and have settled at as my energy and the pace of the day have slowed

I have spent hours here chatting after a late lunch and the presence of water and toilet amenities allows you to have no reason to rush. It's never too busy at the park, despite the bustle of traffic along the City West Link. Somehow there is always a sense of calm.

There is something beautiful about the sun setting anywhere along Iron Cove Bay and while does not sit directly on the water, somehow you still feel close enough that it doesn't matter.

And there is seating all around the park giving you different vantage points from which to enjoy the scenery.

Inevitably, I always seem to linger until a cool breeze starts to come up from the water and then I'm always struck by the desire to take a slow and thoughtful walk through the beautiful suburb of Haberfield as the light of day fades bringing a fitting end to the visit.

isn't special, I now realise, because of what it has, or where it is, but because of how I am always left feeling after I visit - relaxed.

I can't guarantee you can replicate the experience - but maybe if you are in the area, give it a visit and see.

A number of bus stops are located along the edges of the park, while the main street of Haberfield is a 10 minute walk away and home to a number of pleasant coffee shops.
