Roberto Alagna, is one of the greatest voices of this generation and the most charismatic artist working in opera today. He will commence his debut tour of Australia on 21 July, performing in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
This opera will be a thrilling performance following his three-month season starring with the New York Metropolitan Opera in the role of Canio (Pagliacci) and as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). This is a rare chance to hear this magnificent Italian/French tenor, one of the most sought after opera stars in the world.
Alagana is a unique powerful lyric tenor who can achieve a high C effortlessly. The power of his tenor is undeniably impressive. Your soul will be enveloped by its beauty as pure blissful tones caress your ears. Roberto Alagna when very young knew he had a powerful voice but had no musical background or experience. Born in France, he was first inspired after hearing the Italian tenor Mario Lanza at 14 years old. It was quite some years until on one momentous occasion he met the maestro Pavarotti. Alagna was invited to audition to earn a ticket to the finale of the Pavarotti Competition in Philadelphia. He won his ticket to Philadelphia and the prestigious competition, amrking the start of his operatic career at age 24.

With his film-star good looks and elegant but powerful voice he has bridged Italian and French repertoires with a career spanning over 30 years. His countless performances have received praise with lead roles at La Scala, Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
There have been many twists and turns as his career gathered in momentum regardless of some highs and lows in his personal life. These challenges have made him an even more talented tenor while never compromising on his approach to singing the greatest operatic repertoires.
Mr Alagna has created a program for his Australian debut that will truly showcase his powerful voice. You will be in awe hearing him sing the greatest operatic arias as well as popular songs reflecting his Sicilian, Neapolitan and French roots.
Supporting Alagna will be the young German-based Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg, a rising star of opera and the concert stage. She no doubt will thrill the audience with her uplifting and powerful voice.
Maestro Miceli will join the tour as conductor. He is a regular guest artist as pianist and conductor at festivals and theatres across Europe, Asia and the USA.
Roberto Alagna has sold millions of albums of his unique, crossover blend of musical styles, enjoying the devotion of a vast mainstream audience. Deutsche Grammophon and Universal Music Australia will be releasing Alagna's 2-CD album Robertissimo in conjunction with his much anticipated Australian tour. This official tour edition of Robertissimo features Alagna at his best, including arias from Verdi, Donizetti, Massenet and Puccini.
This wonderful opportunity to hear Alagna is being brought to Australia by the arts patron and philanthropist, Lady Southey AC, a co-director with Franca Smarrelli, of SkyHigh.
