Numbers are strictly limited to 100.
Come along and go completely under the spell of the irrepressible Rob Mills as he reveals his incredible journey from Australian Idol contestant to acclaimed triple threat in his very first cabaret,
Rob Mills is... Surprisingly Good.
After 12 years of singing song covers and articulating other peoples scripts Millsy has taken the plunge and developed his own amazing one man show. Named to honour all the critics who, over the past 12 years, have given his work the grudging assessment,
'Rob Mills is surprisingly good' this cabaret sets out to prove them
'surprisingly correct'!
Get ready for an exuberant, funny and cheeky show filled with killer songs and interspersed with some juicy personal information Millsy has never told anyone before. Be warned though, if you think this is going to be a heart rending, emotional journey then you're going to be disappointed. There's no way Millsy's going to be taking himself too seriously and this show promises to have a whacking great big dollop of 'taking the micky' all over it – just like ranch dressing on an American salad.
When he started out imitating great singers as a teenager in his garage in Wheelers Hill, Melbourne, Millsy could never have realised how one day he would scale the entertainment heights until he could claim his own voice in his own dynamic one man show. Having made that climb, he now intends to entertain you with his eclectic mix of music and stories backed by a cracking band as he tickles your funny bone with his self-deprecating humour all in an intimate setting.
This really is an afternoon of 'rockin' on' and laughter you must not miss.
The cabaret is part comedy, part musical and part late night talk show all backed up with sensational music from an incredible band. Speaking of music, you'll hear covers of songs from artists as far reaching as Taylor Swift, Queen and Pharell and, as an added bonus, Millsy will also be doing covers of himself. Yes, he has included several of his own hits from musicals such as,
'The Last Five Years',
'Legally Blonde', and of course,
'Wicked' in which he has starred.
Since making it into the top five finalists of Australian Idol's first season, Millsy has had a very successful career in TV and on the stage. He won the coveted lead male role of
Fiyero in
Wicked and has starred in a number of popular large-scale musical theatre productions including
Legally Blonde and
Grease. His television credits include
The Mint,
Dancing with the Stars,
Celebrity Apprentice and hosting Network Ten's revamped
Young Talent Time.
And even after all this, the critics are still confounded when forced to admit Millsy is,
'Surprisingly good'. While not sure why his being
'good' is so surprising Millsy has grabbed the opportunity to use the backhanded compliment to send himself up in new ways through a night of cabaret entertainment which, he is certain, you will also agree is
'surprisingly good'.
Just to let you know, Millsy's excited, he's super nervous and secretly terrified all at the same time. He's feeling disgustingly lucky to have reached a point where he's earned the right to have a chat, crack a joke or two and sing some fantastic songs.
Be there and enjoy a great night when Rob Mills proves the entertainment critics are right when they say he is surprisingly good.
