Many people are aware of the critical work undertaken by our service men and women and emergency service personnel. But how many of us really understand the impact on them of the work they do and the resulting post-traumatic stress that they and their families endure?
The Road Home is an Australian charity dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support health and wellbeing programs into conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress for veterans, Defence Force and emergency service personnel and their families and deliver optimal models of care and health outcomes for those affected.
The Road Home Wellbeing Program supports individuals from service and/or injury to the next stage of life through a peer support community and wellbeing activities. Pathways for training, employment and meaningful volunteering options are provided along with many other very worthwhile activities.
Art therapy is an integral part of the program and an outlet which enables each person to express their individual journey resulting in a positive impact on health and wellbeing.
From 18 to 26 November 2017, The Road Home Art Exhibition will be open to the general public each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2 pm to 8 pm. Located at 34A, Keswick Barracks, Anzac Highway, Adelaide, this incredible exhibition will showcase pieces of artwork created by Australian Defence Force personnel, veterans, emergency service personnel and their families and celebrates the vital role art therapy has on their recovery.
Entry is free.
