Rivermark Café is located on the scenic Hastings River in Port Macquarie, just Macquarie, New South Wales 2444/, 261 Hastings River Dr, Port Macquarie NSW 2444/data=!4m8!4m7!1m2!1m1!1s0x6b9dff5c34ecc9c1:0x50609b490442e40!1m2!1m1!1s0x6b9dffaa4f5e4b45:0xbc6744fd751c332a!3e0?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi8qabusdvhAhUMdCsKHX0xDIoQ-A8wAHoECAoQDA 5 minutes drive from the town centre. It is one of the most scenic waterfront cafes in Port Macquarie, with a constant stream of locals and tourists visiting it to enjoy the views - with the chance of spotting a dolphin or two from their table.

My family and I have visited Rivermark for many years and it never fails to disappoint. As soon as we walk in the door the welcome is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and somehow - by a sheer stroke of luck - we always end up with the best table by the water. Our last visit was on a beautiful autumn day in April, where we managed to snag a table right by the water and settle in for a relaxing lunch with a view.

The outside dining area is larger than you imagine from the outside, with tables in the shade and others in the sun, if you wish to catch some rays. Menus are provided, with an enticing range of lunch items to choose from, which range between $14 and $28 - see menu here . If you would like a bottle of cold water on your table, there is a self-serve fridge at the top of the ramp, where you help yourself to the bottle and glasses.

On our visit we were after something light on the lunch menu , so we chose the Tomato, Basil & Feta Bruschetta ($14) and a Smoked Salmon, sour cream, capers, bean shoots, cucumber & Spanish onion wrap ($17). Our daughter chose the Spaghetti Bolognaise ($12.50) off the kids menu , which came with chips on the side - much to her delight. Although the wrap was delicious it was very light on the filling, however, the Bruschetta and Spaghetti Bolognaise were heartily enjoyed.

Rivermark Café is hugely popular on weekends in particular, so bookings are recommended by calling 02 6584 4660. Please note that there is a 10% surcharge on Sundays.

Port Macquarie is a relaxed beachside town, which makes you unwind as soon as you drive in. Pelicans soar through the air, dolphins surf the waves and koalas live wildly in the trees. There is also plenty of things to do for families if you visit in the school holidays, including visiting this scenic, waterside café. Kids (and adults!) enjoy the thrill of looking for native wildlife, just metres from the tables. We have always spotted something new on every visit.

Why don't experience it for yourself this weekend?
