The Riverland Beer Garden is the newest place to hit the Brisbane CBD. With a funky new style design, it will soon become a hot spot for those of the 30 something persuasion who are looking for new places to hang out and maybe even meet some new people.

And it has taken a page out of the recycling book and brought recycling at its best, to Eagle Street.

The recycled Sea Containers, painted black, are part of the ambience and are surrounded by beautifully done wooden pillared hallways that lead you around the constructed rooms, where you can get into the flow of the venue.

Large bolts, industrial piping and wooden furniture give the place a very modern edge that is almost warehouse. The added beauty of it is that you are still outside and on the river.

And you are protected from the elements, be it wind, rain or sun. They recently added misting fans, which on some of those scorcher summer days is a blessing. They have wind screens that that will keep you protected on windy or rainy, cooler days as well.

Riverland has been designed to allow a variety of seating spaces. So you can come singly or hold a company function or birthday party. You can email Lisa at [email protected] for more information.

There are places for small groups to get cosy, whether it is huddling around a wooden barrel, sitting in the individual alcoves, or lined up along the bar table that runs the length of the room in the front along the river that gives you the best views, if you time it right.

And there is also a long bar table that stretches the length of the room adjacent the bar in the back.

There is another larger area in the back if you want a different space with a TV for our sports fans, who may be interested to know that "Super Bowl on the River" will happen on Feb 5.

There are tables for 6, where you can catch up with friends, bring your date and their friends, your mates or visiting family from Adelaide. It is even a great spot to meet friends after work any night of the week.

The well -stocked bar lives inside a painted Sea Container, is surrounded by plants, and more seating areas and the bar can be accessed from both sides, allowing for easy access and less waiting.

Then there is the street food. You can nibble on a variety of dishes from Jalapenos Poppers, to Calamari, to Samosas to New York Fries, to Sliders to Barbeque. You can taste a little or munch out until 9:00pm.

They have been opened for 2 months now and word seems to have spread fast. The place can get packed, with lots of loud conversation happening all around the venue.

The music is supplied by DJ, live duos and musicians as well. Check online for the schedule of music and what happens when.

If you are a regular in the city, you will certainly want to check it out, as it could easily become your new favourite place!
