Brisbane Festival's fireworks finale
It's described as Brisbane's night of nights and half a million Brisbaneites who crowd the river foreshores for a better vantage point couldn't possibly be wrong, could they? Once again Brisbane's favourite festival will be put to bed in spectacular fashion for 2015 with the city's favourite fireworks extravaganza, Sunsuper Riverfire. This year's event will light up the skies over Brisbane on Saturday 26 September.

The world class Foti Fireworks (Australia's most awarded fireworks, pyrotechnics and special effects company), who have planned and executed some of the world's most celebrated fireworks events, will be in the driver's seat for this year's event so you're invited to strap yourself in for the fireworks ride of your life.

As usual, it's not just the fireworks that you'll see in the Brisbane skies. The official program for the event will once again include the Australian Defence Force with aerial displays by Super Hornets and helicopters (subject to ADF operational requirements). While the legendary F-111 'dump and burn' spectacles no longer light up the night these other amazing aircraft still put on quite a show.

Top vantage points include Victoria Bridge, South Bank, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Captain Burke Park, Wilson's Lookout, and City Riverwalk, including the Riverside Centre and Eagle Street Pier. All these sites offer food and beverages for sale. People with limited mobility can access the viewing sites at South Bank, Eagle Street Pier, Riverside Centre and Captain Burke Park. Make sure you arrive well before the event kick off time of 7pm. All the best vantage points will be taken well before then.

Remember that South Bank Parklands is an alcohol-free zone for Riverfire. You're also not allowed to bring pets, bikes and scooters, any drink bottles with broken seals, cutlery or glass.

To maximise your enjoyment and reduce the hassles it's best to take public transport. Parking will be strictly limited in most popular areas and the necessary road, bridge and river closures will complicate things even further. Translink is your festival fireworks friend so take advantage of their user friendly website to plan your travel.

Another way to enjoy the spectacle is to dine at one of the many riverside restaurants with a front row seat for the event. This can be a great way to beat the crowds and enjoy the fireworks in pleasant surroundings with a glass of something refreshing in hand. Check out the Visit Brisbane website for dining options and remember to book early. Restaurants with special offers include South Bank Surf Club, Aquitane Brasserie and Aria.

The fireworks themselves will, of course, be choreographed to a brand new soundtrack, which will be broadcast live on Triple M. And if battling the crowds doesn't sound like your scene or you can't make it to the event you can watch it all on Channel Nine in the comfort of your own home. Easy as.
