It's almost that time of year again, when Brisbanites come out in their 100,000s for the annual fireworks extravaganza, Riverfire. This year Riverfire is on Saturday 12th September, a little later than usual because RiverFestival and Brisbane Festival have been combined into one large event.
As always Riverfire promises an impressive display of fireworks all kicked off by the F111's low flyover and “dump and burn” above the CBD.
The best vantage points for Riverfire are South Bank, the Victoria Bridge, Kangaroo Point cliffs, Captain Burke Park (under the Story Bridge), Wilson's lookout (near the Story Bridge on the Fortitude Valley side) and the CBD riverwalk. Or, for a lucky few, from a pre-booked boat mooring along the city and South Brisbane reaches of the river.
Food and drinks are available at the various vantage points around the city, or you can bring your own picnic. Either way, come early on the day to secure a prime viewing spot.
