Festival season is on its way and there's plenty to enjoy in the coming months. One such festival is Riverfest, in south-western Sydney, with a focus around environmental sustainability and the celebration of cultural differences in the community.
Held in Koshigaya Park, you can gain lots of ideas and tips on sustainable gardening as well as taking part in educational workshops. Children can learn where their food comes from and enjoy craft projects involving recyclable materials. The creative juices will flow with them making superhero accessories, from masks to crowns and x-ray vision goggles.
There's a big superhero theme in the entertainment as well with the Marvel's Avengers taking the stage for shows where Captain America, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk combat evil to protect the ozone layer and save the planet.
Other entertainment includes traditional dance groups, music and an interactive show from Madam Mulch and the Great Fertiliso, inspiring budding gardeners. The Get Wild Animal Experience Show will provide encounters with various creatures and talks on wildlife conservation.
Perhaps you might want to learn Kurdish dancing or create some sun prints. You can do both and more. Pick up a Riverfest Passport and go on a Discovery Trail collecting stamps for completing different activities and be in the running to win some great prizes.
A variety of stalls will be available with everything from jewellery to plants. Tasty treats can be purchased to keep you going throughout the day and don't forget your water bottle as you'll be able to fill up for free at the portable stations.
