Having its Australian premiere, RiverBlue is this year's Transitions Film Festival's 95 minute documentary. It highlights the positive change that needs to happen in the fashion industry. It also bares the ugly truth of the true cost of fast fashion.

Directed by David Mcllvride and narrated by ex Beverley Hills 90210 (2008) TV series actor and avid water-supporter Jason Priestley, river conservationist Mark Angelo takes us across the globe, for a reality trip. Water is our life's blood and there's very little allocated for personal and industrial use. It's what wars will be fought over in the future, and it's a resource we need to protect.

This documentary is cringe-worthy as we are exposed to the impact we are having on the world. It's no fairy tale. We need to treat our waterways with more respect.

Our hunger for cheaper fashion is driving industries to cut corners in order to supply our demands. They have thrown caution to the wind and outsourced their responsibilities along with their production.

We need to be the movement to clean up our act by buying from ethical companies that employ production methods invested in sustainability. Spend your fashion dollar wisely, without causing inhumanity to the environment, by destroying its structure. Our closets should not be filled with fashion driven by human and environmental suffering. Let your dollar do the talking so all manufacturers bow down to do it better for our preservation.

Check out the Transition Film Festival's program for this and many other inspiring docos that enlighten us to do better. See their Facebook page for updates.
